Antwerp Theme

After the meeting at Antwerp we have finally decided on a theme for the exhibition.
Based upon the ever changing nature of Antwerp mansion and the quirky aspects it contains them theme is going to be Growth.
This is widely open to interpretation. Here are some suggestions of different ways to view the theme.

It could be;
Physical growth,
evolution
Up scaling/downscaling your work
Economic growth- [or political responses to the recession]
Developments or growth within your work and skills- how it has changed and altered, become more complex, simplistic
Documentation
Growth in terms of quantity
Personal growth
Growth from within
Increase in value
Changes
Movement
Looking back-childhood
Looking forwards to the future
Expanding from a starting point; linear/illustrations, sowing work, painting, music
Adding to/ increase in number
Accumulate [objects]

Things that grow;
nature- trees, humans, plants, mould,
biology: bacteria, disease, viruses, tumour, hormones, life and death, cells

Other words for growth: development, growing, evolution, progress, advances, progression, enlargement, expansion, flowing, gain, maturing, increase, produce, prosperity, success, unfolding, widening,

one idea I think would work well would be to create a collaborative blanket, start with one patch of personalised fabric, document, then get each artist involved to add to it, documenting it’s ‘growth’ as we go.

You could even look at the opposite of growth; decay, decrease, failure, deterioration, reduction, contraction, shrink. stasis etc.

Or just view it as a way to show how you’ve grown as an artist over the past 3 years

If anyone is worried about this theme please email us at creativetransit@gmail.com, or see us in the studio and we’ll chat through your ideas and find a way round it.

More information about the exhibition to follow.
